Life is a Game of Chutes and Ladders, by Luke Mullins

sometimes you'll land on a ladder.
when you climb it,
you will be a lot closer to your goal.
but there's the same chance that you'll land on a chute.
the chute could bring you down one step,
or make you go all the way back to the beginning.

Life is a Bed of Roses By:Demi Paulsen

Every rose bed is different,
by color, shape, size, or even place.
If you work hard
to love and care for them,
in the end you will have
a great turn out.
If not cared for and left alone or ignored-
they will wilt and your beautiful flowers of life will die....
The thorns on the roses represent bad days pain or struggles in life,
but the beautiful blossomed rose petals represents
the goals accomplished in life.
Hate is a Candle by Mary

It starts as a small
flame, contained and controlled, completely
safe. But the
smallest touch and it
bursts with life. It spreads
rapidly,
out of control.
Everything scatters, running from the
destructive force. The
gray, dense air ready to
engulf anything.
Once it is full,
full from its hungry demolition, and after the
choking smoke clears, the wreckage is
clear. A
once plentiful forest
now a wasteland of
black char. An erie
silence fills the area.
Life slowly grows back but
never the same
again.

Extended Metaphor Example

Life is a rose.
Red, Yellow, Pink—it comes in a myriad of colors. But search and find the favorite. Watch for the thorns. Although they aren’t always visible, they’re always there—
but worth the risk.
Despite the rarity, the rose is worth finding and once you have it, it blossoms into an Indescribable Beauty.

Mystery Poem By Luke
I am slain by man.
I am both crunchy and soft.
I can be savory or sweet.
I can be the color of the night sky.
I can be many different nationalities.
You can have me at all times of the day.
You can slice me in half many different ways.
you can make me into a dessert with skill.

Mystery Poem By: Jocelyn
Mystery Poem, By Shelby
or give you a fright
I am around at night
and in the daylight
I can make you sad,
happy, or mad
I am the source of entertainment,
or a dissapointment
I am as fast as a cheetah,
or as slow as a turtle
I am a nerve calmer
I am the caffeine to your body
What Am I?
Mystery Poem BY: Ethan
I throw cars like baseballs.
I crash into land like a wrecking ball crashes through a building.
I make you leave your home.
I have hit the home of the Saints to the home of the Cowboys.
What am I?
Valerie-Mystery Poem
Mary's Mystery Poem
Without me, everyone would be lost in darkness.
I am always there, yet never seen.
I whisper to you like the wind rushing through the trees.
Nothing is more powerful than me,
yet I was killed by a simply piece of wood.
No one can understand the depths of my love.
It is wider than the horizon and deeper than the darkest waters.
I have been before time,
and I'll be there forever.
Can you guess who or what I am?
Andrea- Mystery Poem
Mystery Poem By: Madeline Earls
My roar scares people like ghosts,
I crack bolt and rumble,
My brightness shines people's day,
I have a friend that follows me,
What am I?
Mystery Poem by Sarah
I am practically everywhere
I hear scribbling, squeaking, whirring, talking
I see almost everything
I can be as precious as flowers
I can be as rejected as moldy bread
I can help you, I can make you cry
I can make you groan, I can make you laugh
I can be passed around
I can be waiting to be used
I once had breath, but now I'm dead
What am I?
Mystery Poem, By:Mallory
and I have a different personality in each season.
I'm not always the usual green,
I'm not always the bland red.
Sometimes I'm yellow and orange,
Sometimes I'm even brown and crunchy.
I'm not normaly around in the winter,
I'm most definitely around in the summer.
I'm all different shapes, sizes, and styles,
But don't underestimate me, because I can make a big pile!
What am I?
Mystery Poem By: Demi Paulsen
The rainbow, but not in the sky.
I am like a sea of colors.
In my wrapper I click and clack.
In your mouth I smoosh around.
I am a trip to the dentist.
I feel I am about to be eaten.......
What am I?
Mystery Poem, By: Priya
tart, I can be.
Vibrant, I am,
a complexion of many colors, I can be.
A quick escape on a hot day, I am,
sticky like a bee's honey, I can be.

Mystery Poem Example
When I'm young, I'm tall.
When I'm old, I'm short.
When I'm alive, I glow.
Because of your breath, I die.
What am I?
Mystery Poem Example
I am small as an ant and big as a whale,
I can soar through the air like a bird with a tail.
I can be seen by day and not by night,
I can be seen with a big flash of light.
I follow whoever controls me by the sun,
but I fade away when dark fell like a ton.
What am I?
Mystery Poem Example
I have streets, but no pavement.
I have cities, but no buildings.
I have forests, but no trees.
I have rivers, yet no water.
